Info

Benjamin Burrell is a South London born composer, orchestrator, arranger, and musical director. He studied Jazz at Trinity College of Music and holds a Masters in Scoring for Film, Television & Video Games from Berklee College of Music.

On screen, Benjamin has composed the score for the ITV series "Three Little Birds" written by Sir Lenny Henry, BBC3 series “Just Act Normal”, Sky documentary “Rewriting Trump” and the BAFTA winning Netflix documentary “Grenfell Uncovered”.

In theatre, Benjamin has worked as a composer and musical director for prodcutions at the National Theatre and across the West End. His productions include "The Motive and The Cue" directed by Sir Sam Mendes and written by Jack Thorne, "Best of Enemies" directed by Jeremy Herrin and written by James Graham, and "Blues for an Alabama Sky" directed by Lynette Linton. He also worked on the National Theatre's production of “The Authenticator”, and composed the score for the play "Small Island" based on Andrea Levy's book. Benjamin has been recognized for his work, receiving the Musical Director Recognition Award at the Black British Theatre Awards in 2019. As orchestrator and arranger Benjamin has helped create the West End musical The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind and The Harder They Come.

Benjamin also works across a variety of live music productions as Musical Director and Condcutor, these include The House and Garage Orchestra, Rampage: Carnival Classics, Arthur Verocia and the NCO, Chineke!, J-Hus and Asake.
